Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has won 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an better service.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, took control to force a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
