Intensive Russian Assaults Cut Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and encountered problems to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Russian forces has increased assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the Group of Seven - in providing defensive weapons and implementing penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city endured intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were injured.

The assaults follow evenings of air raids in the region, parts of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The whole nation is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to detect.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were anticipating additional strikes.
