Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack made him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
